Deep Clean vs. Standard Clean

The Short Answer

A standard clean maintains a home that's already reasonably clean. A deep clean restores a home that hasn't been professionally cleaned recently — or tackles areas that routine cleaning never reaches.

If it's your first booking with us, or it's been more than 8 weeks since your last professional clean, we almost always recommend starting with a deep clean.

What's Included in a Standard Clean

A standard clean covers all the surfaces, floors, and fixtures you'd expect: vacuuming and mopping all floors, wiping countertops and sinks, cleaning toilets and showers, dusting surfaces and ceiling fans, cleaning exterior appliance surfaces, and emptying trash bins.

Standard cleans work best when they're recurring — weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. The more consistent the schedule, the faster and more effective each visit becomes.

What's Included in a Deep Clean

A deep clean goes well beyond the surface. It includes everything in a standard clean, plus: cleaning inside the oven and microwave, scrubbing grout lines in the shower and tub, wiping down baseboards and door frames, cleaning inside the refrigerator, washing window sills and tracks, disinfecting light switches and outlets, and cleaning behind and under furniture.

Deep cleans take 2–4x longer than standard cleans and are priced accordingly. For most homes, a deep clean every 3–6 months — combined with monthly standard cleans in between — is the ideal cadence.

When to Book a Deep Clean

First clean with a new service. Moving into a new home (or out of one). After a renovation or construction project. Before or after hosting a major event. When it's been more than 6–8 weeks since the last professional clean. Spring or fall seasonal reset.

What About Move-In / Move-Out Cleans?

Move-in and move-out cleans are a specific type of deep clean designed for vacant properties. They include everything in a standard deep clean, plus cleaning inside all cabinets and drawers, cleaning appliances thoroughly, and addressing any buildup left by previous occupants.
