How to Prepare for House Cleaning
A few simple steps before your cleaner arrives can make a big difference in the results. Here's exactly what to do — and what not to worry about.
You Don't Need to Clean Before We Clean
The most common thing we hear from new clients: "I need to clean up before you come." You don't. That said, there are a few simple ways to prepare your house before a professional cleaning that can help your cleaner work faster and more thoroughly — and get you better results.
1. Declutter Surfaces and Floors
You don't need to organize everything. But if countertops and floors are clear of clutter, your cleaner can spend time actually cleaning instead of moving items around. Pick up laundry off the floor, clear off the kitchen counter, and move anything you don't want touched.
This is especially important for deep cleans — the more accessible a surface is, the more thoroughly it can be cleaned.
2. Secure Pets and Valuables
Let us know in advance if you have pets. Most of our clients crate dogs or keep cats in a separate room during the clean — it's safer for everyone and lets us work more efficiently.
Secure or put away any valuables, jewelry, or important documents. Not because we have any concerns about our team (every cleaner is background-checked), but because it gives you peace of mind.
3. Note Anything Special
Have a surface that needs special care? A pet stain in the carpet? A room you'd like us to skip? Leave a note or add it in your booking instructions. The more we know, the better we can tailor the clean.
If you have allergies or sensitivities to certain products, let us know. We use eco-friendly products by default, but can adjust for specific needs.
4. Provide Access
Make sure we have a way to get in at the scheduled time — a key, a door code, or someone home. If access instructions change, call or text (734) 892-0931 as early as possible. Missed appointments due to no access may incur a fee.
5. You Don't Need to Be Home
Many of our clients aren't home during the clean — that's totally fine. Leave a key or door code in your booking notes. We'll let ourselves in, complete the clean, and lock up when we leave.
You'll get a follow-up after the clean. If anything wasn't up to standard, contact us within 24 hours and we'll return to make it right — free of charge.
